Interior Designer

The incumbent is responsible for developing and maintaining an Interior Design Program at the VA Connecticut Medical Center at West Haven.
Providing professional interior designer support to VISN 1Develop and implement creative initiativesPlanning the composition and layout of illustrations through the appropriate use of perspective, proportion, scale and color harmonyCoordinating design plans (space planning, flooring, finishes, furniture, etc.
) with concerned areas to assure successful completion of approved plans and to consider options of different functions which are consistent with local and Network wide goals to provide an aesthetic and therapeutic environment for patient care Develops and maintains a comprehensive five-year Interior Design Plan for the Medical Center Being involved in all renovation at the Medical Center and assisting and advising management in all areas of designConducting evaluations of program aspects to insure compliance with essential requirements and VA standardsPrepares an annual budget request for new projects and any scheduled or progressive renewal of interior surfaces, furniture, and furnishingControls and coordinates all interior/exterior signage by ordering and approving/disapproving the use of signsParticipates in the development of a VISN 1 brand.
The branding is the development of a standard design scheme/approach to create a patient-centered, holistic approach to healthcare, promoting mental, emotional, spiritual, social, and physical healingPrepares and presents detailed professional plans, sketches and overlaysPrepares equipment and furniture listing for all assigned major renovation and construction projects to be submitted by the Medical CenterDevelop cost estimates to cover furnishings required for projects including in budget submissionMaintaining and updating an on-going resources library of wall coverings, murals, wall art, carpeting, acoustical partitions, furniture, accessories, draperies, etc.
