Medical Technician ACOS
This position is located in the research laboratories of Psychiatry Services at the VA Connecticut Health Care Systems, in West Haven, CT.
The major responsibilities of this position will be to work as an integral part the research team.
The incumbent will be required to prepare DNA/RNA from blood and saliva, as well as prepare samples for high-throughput sequencing techniques.
The incumbent should have working knowledge of automated equipment such as ABI Taqman, Illumina Beadxpress and HiScan, Tecan EVO, and Matrix PlatematePlus.
The duties include, but are not limited to:
Maintains a computerized database of biological specimens and genotyping results;Ensures data and results are compiled, analyzed and presented accurately;Acquired knowledge of VA Connecticut's safety procedures and regulations;Interacts and maintains a professional relationship with other laboratory personnel and external contacts;Performs enzymatic manipulations of DNA;Prepares samples for high-throughput squencing and microarray work;Conduct research under PI's and lab manager's supervision;Performs other duties as assigned.
