Dental Assistant
This position is located in the Dental Service of the VA Connecticut Healthcare System (VACT) at the West Haven Campus.
The incumbent will serve as a developmental staff dental assistant.
Performs assigned selected procedures with guidance from more experienced staff members and dentists.
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Maintains patient confidentiality per HIPAA with written and verbal information;Follows computer security regulations;Assist in packaging dental prosthesis for shipment to dental laboratories;Performs other dental laboratory functions;Provides assistant to customers with questions or concerns;Provides service recovery;Sets up operatory for planned dental procedure and cleans dental unit for timely turnover;Passes instruments safely, accurately, and efficiently;Keeps operative field clear of debris and retracts oral tissues effectively and comfortably;Prepared dental medicaments and impression materials per manufacturer's instructions;Imaging requests are accomplished within the desired time frame;Maintains patients confidently per HIPAA with written and verbal information;Demonstrates proper infection control procedures in exposing images;Instruments are prepared in a manner that does not delay clinical care;Instruments are properly prepared for sterilization by SPD standards;Performs other duties as assigned.
